“Senseless” creates a dystopian vision of the future, where scientific experiments are carried out in order to create a “superhuman” and sharpen the senses to gain more pleasure in the society ruled by the rich where the poor become subjects of human experimentation. Human condition is under investigation while telling the story of a group of individuals awoken at the human disposal site guarded by defected bioadroids. Without a trace of memory and unable to rely on the senses they are trying to regain their humanity. “Senseless” is based on the research into phenomenology of perception by French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty and the Buddhist discourse about the realm of senses (Āyatana) using sci-fi genre to talk about current issues in our contemporary society.  In this piece butoh is combined with contemporary dance, ballet & hip-hop elements and electronic music. How do you know what you know and how do you distinguish between reality and dream once you can’t rely on your senses?

The cast consists of 12 performers: 8 butoh dancers, 2 electro hip hop dancers (from Paris) and 2 contemporary & ballet dancers (from Čiurlionis Art School in Vilnius).
