Edward Aleman and Wilmer Marquez, the acrobatic duo working togteher since 2000 and founders of „El Nucleo“ circus company. With this new project, the quest for identity will be explored from the point of view of what it means to be part of a group. All performers are from the same neighborhood of the Colombian capital where they all lived as teenagers. Today, they are professional circus performers and have a common artistic language: acrobatics. Wilmer and Edward are the first Colombian circus artists to have come to train in France in a graduate circus school. Subsequently, the three young ‘brothers’ also came to Europe. The project is thus about our relationship with others and these different, exceptional journeys, and unique individual destinies. The circus artists physically explore the themes of destiny, fraternity, family, and the collective and individual struggle for freedom ... looking beyond clichés and stereotypes.

„Questions concerning social communities, ethnic belonging or religious alliances trouble the world today. We live in a divided world where each of us tries to affirm or even claim an identity, to justify our existence. A world where the word „freedom“ does not mean the same thing, depending on whether we are born in Paris, Kabul or Bogota. Acrobats question in a very physical and frontal way our relationship with others: trust, complementarity and metaphorically, the question of co-existence. This is why, for our third piece of work, we have invited our „brothers“ from Colombia. This project is very important to us because we believe that it is collectively that we can make a difference,“ – claim Wilmer Marquez and Edward Aleman.
